PRIMARY
SPORTS
Physical Education (PE) students at SES will be inspired to be active, healthy, and deeply enthused by physical activity.
They will develop a love of learning in PE in an environment where they are supported to develop physically and intellectually and will perform in a range of challenging situations. They will be able to challenge themselves as part of a team and individually.
Developing a life-long commitment to exercise
Through PE, students will develop their knowledge about the positive effects of exercise on their physical, social, and mental health and develop a passion and life-long commitment to exercise. They will also develop practical skills across a range of activities, as well as improve personal skills, which will enable them to perform in a range of situations, including those that can involve working together in a competitive environment.
Students will experience a wide range of sporting activities that are underpinned by a broad but increasingly complex set of skills and abilities.
It is our commitment to provide an environment that encourages a desire to participate in a range of activities or their chosen specialist sport into adult life. This means that:
- Students will develop in a positive & caring environment that allows them to excel together and as individuals.
- A broad and balanced PE curriculum will be provided, where there is something to captivate all students.
- The learning environment for students will be high quality, continually evolving, and immersive.
- Personal and social skills will be developed, allowing for increased creativity, competence, and confidence in all forms of physical activity.
- Participation in PE will be underpinned by the core values of sportsmanship, enjoyment, respect, discipline, and teamwork.
- Students will demonstrate our Charter for Sport: Striving for Excellence, Embracing Challenges and Showing Sportsmanship.
- SES provides PE in our exceptional facilities. These include our two designated sports halls, fitness suite, dance studio, netball court, basketball court and an impressive grass field.

OUR SPORTING ETHOS
The SES sporting ethos can be split into two main strands; Performance and Values.
At the heart of ‘Performance’ lies an ambition to ensure each and every child is fulfilling their potential. The majority of pupils play sport for the School, taking with them the benefits of their sporting experiences into their future lives. Many of our pupils pursue and develop their sport beyond school in local clubs.
Our Charter for Sport describes the ‘Values’ that we promote and look to develop.
To join a school like SES is to join a community and become part of a team.
Like any team, it thrives on the trust and commitment that its members show to each other and the values that those teammates share. As such, we expect all of our pupils to Strive for Excellence, Embrace Challenges, Show Sportsmanship.
While our program is based on traditional team sports, the pupils’ experience is of up-to-date sports practices with innovative coaching. We have a growing ECA programme with a range of sports available for pupils to take part in (from Y3).

We are constantly developing club links to aid pupils in their aspirations to achieve the best. Sharjah Netball Club and Desert Cubs Cricket Academy are based at SES.
During their tenure at SES, students are provided with opportunities to cultivate their leadership skills potentially by serving as a Sports Leader in the Primary School.
